To install Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) in a virtual machine using the Lion installer download: In Fusion, from the menu bar, go to File New. Choose Continue without disc. Drag and drop the Install Mac OS X Lion application onto the Use operating system installation disc or image drop-down menu. A APP, -app=APP path to Install Mac OS X Lion.app.-d DMG, -dmg=DMG path to (original) InstallESD.dmg. Specify this option if you have a copy of the InstallESD.dmg file but not a copy of 'Install Mac OS X Lion.app'.-o OUTPUT, -output=OUTPUT Optional. Path for output DMG. Defaults to 'InstallESD.dmg' in the current working directory.

I want to create a bootable copy of Mountain Lion, and I've been reading instructions on various forums, and they all say to copy the installESD.dmg file that's located within the Install OS X Mountain Lion.app. I was wondering, what is the difference between the two? I know once you install OS X, the app is deleted. What wouldbe the difference between copying Install OS X Mountain Lion to the USB vs copying InstallESD.dmg to the USB?
